Overcome offence with the powerful weapon of love

Love is a powerful weapon against the devil’s schemes and especially when it comes to the ability to overcome offence.

The devils lies and a man’s easily offended heart must be our enemy’s all-time favourite scheme for division amongst humanity. The enemy has nothing in mind but to destroy relationships, destroy God’s truth and promises in our lives and make our lives miserable.

Jesus wants us to understand that we must not let offences take over our love for others nor get bound by our own hatred. He said, “love your enemies”, and that is a whole new level of love that surpasses our knowledge because “our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the Heavenly realms”.

Overcome offence

We can overcome offence

Our real enemy is not the people that offend us. We must understand that no matter the offence they have done, they too may just have been deceived and a victim of the devil’s schemes. Jesus even takes love further as He says, “to pray for those who persecute you.”

Love is difficult when we don’t abide with the Holy Spirit to do His work in us to bear the fruit of love. An easily offended heart hinders our growth and our ability to choose God’s love for others.

Loving God entails loving others – they are two sides of the coin that cannot be separated. Love is God’s healthy design to function in life and in our relationships. Love is what Jesus is and it is what has redeemed and united us with God and others.

Love is a powerful and offensive weapon against the devil’s schemes. It gives us the ability to overcome offence and live in unity. Go ahead, love God and love others and give the devil the bad day he deserves.
