Rabbi Kirt Schneider explores God’s prophetic and symbolic names in the Bible, which hold the keys to discovering His will and character. In his newest book, To Know Him By Name, Rabbi Schneider guides readers toward a deeper intimacy with God through understanding, offering a pathway to encounter the Lord’s blessings.
“Knowing the names and titles of God as revealed in the Hebrew Bible, or the Old Testament, is much more than an intellectual exercise,” Kirt Schneider notes. “By understanding them, we don’t just learn interesting information; we discover who God truly is and who He desires to be for us.”
Rabbi Schneider also believes that “By coming to know God’s names and titles, you will actually come to better know Him. We cannot see God with our physical eyes, but we can know Him through His self-revelation.”
He encourages readers to not only learn the names of God, but also to declare them, trust them, and depend on them, so that readers may grow in their faith, and in turn experience greater victory in their lives.
“When God reveals Himself to us through His names and titles, He doesn’t do it just so we will know them; He does it so we can lay hold of and respond to them,” he explains. “For example, when the Lord revealed Himself as Yahweh Yireh, which means ‘the Lord our Provider’ or ‘the Lord Will Provide,’ it was so we would respond to that name in faith.”
There is power and purpose behind the names of God in the Bible.
